Tournament Caddie Policy – Tampa Junior Tour

  • Caddies are allowed for the 12 & Under age divisions only. (unless otherwise approved by the Tampa Junior Tour)
  • Caddies are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times. The Tampa Junior Tour reserves the right to suspend or ban any caddy from one or more events for inappropriate behavior.

Check-In & Bibs

  • All caddies must check in at the registration table with the Tournament Director before play to sign the Tournament Caddie Policy.
  • Caddy bibs will be provided at check-in and must be worn at all times on the course.

Coaching & Conduct

  • Caddies must refrain from over-coaching their player. Over-coaching is defined at the discretion of the Tampa Junior Tour and may result in penalty strokes to the player.
  • Caddies may be removed from the course if their actions affect the play of other competitors, including interactions with players or spectators.
  • Both caddies and players are responsible for maintaining pace of play.
    • Each shot should be played within 40 seconds.
    • If a caddy’s actions cause a group to fall behind, penalties may be assessed to the player.

USGA Caddie Rules

  • Rule 14-2b: A caddie must not stand on or close to an extension of the line of play or line of putt behind the ball while the player is making a stroke. Positioning in this area is allowed only before the player begins the swing. Violation = 2-stroke penalty.
  • Rule 8-2b: On the putting green, a caddie may point out a line for putting before the stroke, but may not touch the green or mark the line. Violation = 2-stroke penalty.
  • Rule 8-1: A caddie is someone who carries or handles a player's clubs and assists according to the Rules of Golf. A player may only have one caddie at a time. A caddie may be replaced or removed by the player at any time. No other person may give advice or help the player.
